Welcome to the Durango Pickleball Association

The Southwest Colorado Pickleball Association (SWCPA) was founded in 2017 and is based in Durango, Colorado. It was originally formed to advocate for the construction of dedicated, outdoor, public pickleball courts. That vision was realized in the summer of 2024 with the construction of six new public pickleball courts at Durango’s Schneider Park. Adjacent to the Animas River and within walking distance of historic downtown Durango, the courts are a welcome addition to Durango’s outdoor lifestyle.

In November 2025, the Southwest Colorado Pickleball Association Board of Directors voted to change the name of our association to the Durango Pickleball Association, making it easier for new and visiting pickleball players to find us and to more closely identify with the Durango-area community.

The new outdoor courts complement the continued indoor court time available at the Durango Recreation Center on Main Street—making pickleball more accessible for everyone.

We are a volunteer organization that began with only 35 members. Today, we have over 350 active memberships (Individual and Family). With the successful completion of the outdoor courts at Schneider Park, we are now focusing on supporting the growth and enjoyment of pickleball throughout the community. Specifically, our focus includes creating fun and friendly opportunities to play, such as skills-and-drills clinics, shoot-outs, and the development of leagues and team play. We will continue to advocate for additional play locations in the Durango area.

Our association members represent all ages and skill levels. What unites us is our love of pickleball. We welcome everyone who enjoys the sport to become a Durango Pickleball Association member! Partner with us in building a fun, inclusive community where you can meet new people, improve your pickleball skills, enjoy social gatherings, and pursue your pickleball goals—whether that means playing in tournaments, joining leagues, or supporting future court development—as the sport continues to grow across the globe.
